The Aphasia Community
Friendship Center (ACFC)


  • provides a unique program for individuals with aphasia and aphasia-related disorders living in Southeastern Michigan.

  • provides a supportive and stimulating environment where persons with communicative impairments can continue to optimize their communication skills, develop meaningful relationships, and maintain hope for recovery.

  • provides choices in life-participation activities and social programs for persons with aphasia, regardless of their level of impairment or ability to pay  

  • provides support from health care professionals, trained volunteers, and community advocates who are committed to a 'partnership' with persons who are reclaiming their voices and affirming their new identities.
